On June 15th 2007, for many businesses email and the web stopped working. For over eight hours of that busy Friday. Although many websites suffered outages including, it was the loss of email service that was most acutely felt by businesses.
Part of the infrastructure failed at Hosting365, Ireland’s largest hosting provider. The item which failed should have had built in redundancy but did not, and as a result services could not be restored immediately. Eventually when services began to come back, there were more problems as a result of the outage and so ‘Black Friday’ was in full swing.
