Over 80% of Irish Internet users first turn to search engines

According to an online survey conducted by Amarach Consulting for the 2nd Search Marketing World 2008 conference, 83% of Irish internet users are now turning to search engines as a first point of reference when looking for information on the web.

Interestingly, a high number (33%) said they had clicked on “sponsored” links on search engine result pages, which is almost double the number from last year. (More information on sponsored links is available by clicking here).

The online survey confirmed that Google is still king of the search engines, with a whopping 96% of those surveyed indicating it was their first preference search site.
