Irish spent almost €3 billion online in 2010

 

Not selling online yet? The average Irish shopper spent €1,500 online in 2010!

Research from Visa Europe confirmed that the Irish love shopping online, with convenience and ‘good value’ being touted as the primary reason – shoppers can expect to save between 11% and 30% over in-store prices.

The research indicated that Irish people are growing more confident with shopping online, with 65% of participants stated that they were aware of their online consumer rights and 96% claimed that they were sure that their online retailers were reputable.

Conor Langford (the vice-president at Visa Europe) commented that, “we are seeing a large growth in the popularity of online shopping….consumers typically shop online because it’s convenient but increasingly we’ve seen budget conscious shopper turn to the internet in the hunt for value.”
