Google AdWords FAQ's:

Q. I want to rank #1 or on the left-hand side above the organic search results. Is this possible?

A. Yes, but it depends on the following factors: Max. Cost Per Click (how much you are willing to pay per click-thru)You will usually have to out-bid your top competitors. (The average bid prices will be different for every keyword.) If the other factors (below) are more optimised than your competition, you can sometimes bid less than them but still rank higher. Your ad's CTR / click-thru rate (% of people who see your ad and click thru)This is a big factor in determining rank. The higher your CTR, the less you pay per click and the higher you rank. This is why it's so important for on-going maintenance. We need to be continually testing new ads and getting a better CTR over time. Relevancy of the keyword you're bidding on The keyword that you're bidding on should be mentioned on the page you're sending visitors in at least a couple of places. If it's not, Google deems it less relevant, hurting your overall quality score and lessening your chances of a high ranking without paying a massively inflated price. Keep in mind, sometimes Google will not display the left-hand side ad-block at all.

Q. How am I billed for the traffic I receive?

A. Every 30 days, Google will bill your credit card for traffic received thus far, unless your current credit limit has been met within that 30 day period, in which case you are billed and a new billing cycle begins. Your credit limit starts off at €50, then you move to €200, then €350, then finally €500.

Q. I did a few searches for "example keyword" and my ad doesn't show. Why?

A. Two most likely reasons are: 1) Your campaign is set to Standard Delivery, which means Google will show your ad intermittently throughout the day so as not to burn through your day's budget in the morning. 2) Your daily budget has been met for the day. In both cases, the only way to ensure your ads are always displayed is to increase your budget.

Q: How long to get setup?

A: Once payment is received and you have filled out the post-purchase questionnaire, within 7 business days.
