How to setup up Mozilla Thunderbird email

This support section shows you how to set up and receive your email using Mozilla Thunderbird.

In Thunderbird, select Tools from the menu bar, and then ‘Account Settings’.

In the popup window, select "Email Account" and click Next.

Enter your name as you would like it to appear to recipients, eg First Last, and enter your email address, eg. user@yourdomain.com

Click POP3, and enter your pop3 setting i.e. mail.yourdomain.ie (where yourdomain is the domain from which you collect your emails.

Tick the box where it says “Use Global Inbox”, and enter your SMTP settings.

NOTE: Your SMTP Server name is dependent on and provided by your Internet Connection Provider. Please contact your Internet Connection Provider's technical support department or support section of their website to find out the address of your SMTP server. Some examples of SMTP servers in use by Irish connection providers are:

Enter your eTailor username (as according to your setup document provided), and click ‘Next’.

You are then given the option to name the group of mail that this address retrieves. You could call this ‘Work’ or ‘Personal’ for example.

A confirmation screen will be displayed next with the information you entered, and it will ask you to verify this information before completing the setup procedures.

Once this is complete, you will need to enter your password to retrieve your email. It is advisable that if you have a difficult to remember password, that you use the ‘Password Manager’ to remember your password for you, and then to keep your password written somewhere safely.

You are now ready to receive your email.
